This Stacking Vessel combines several materials and makers in a unique object; the piece consists of a set of individual containers, stacked together to create a sculptural vessel shape. Once disassembled each part becomes functional, serving as a large glass vase, a open marble bowl and a small wooden container.
Dimensions: H. 37cm dia. 23cm
Dimensions are approximate, due to the handmade nature of the materials
This piece is a one-off and has been individually photographed, this is thus the exact piece you would get.
Handmade in Europe, by individual craftsmen: handblown glass (Czech Republic), marble (Italy), hand turned wood (Finland). The materials then come to our warehouse in North Germany where they are fitted and assembled.
Craft Challenge: mining the initial soapstone billet to accommodate the diameter of the piece.
The soapstone we work with is mined from the ground in Finland, at the border with Russia. It was formed under the high mountains billions of years ago (Stone Age) before these same mountains levelled down (Ice Age), revealing soapstone, a hidden natural treasure. This dense and heavy material gets cut and shaped on a lathe in a small factory in rural Finland.
